Several lessons ago, a cousin of mine made the comments that one of the teachings encouraged her in her daily walk with Jesus Christ.

This got me to thinking about our lives and service to Jesus Christ. More specifically how do we know when we are in the right path. I’m not talking about being saved but what are our fruits after salvation.

Lets face it, in our society today, sometimes it hard to tell the professing Christians from the world. Some Christians are living in outright sins. I’m not talking about being in bondage to something, I’m talking about standing up before God and telling him that some of the sins He states are an abomination, you say are ok. This shouldn’t be so.

What are the signs of the true Christian, someone that truly wants to be in right path for Him?

In the 5th chapter of Galatians, we get a glimpse of what if of the sinful flesh, but later on in this chapter we see what the fruits of the Spirt. Notice that the works of the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God!

The fruits of the Spirit.

Ga 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Ga 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Note: When you get saved, (accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior), your like a tree that bears fruit, either good or bad.

Love here is in a general sense. Like in John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

We are to be concerned about the eternity of our fellow mankind, to love them, even if we hate what they do. Love!

Joy, to be gladden, exhilaration. We should always seek the joy of our salvation. When we don’t have it, we should pray like David did in Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;

Notice he said “restore”

Peace, we should have that confidence in our status with Jesus Christ. Assurance of our salvation. That peace that passes all understanding. Regardless of what is going on around us, we know He is with us to make it through. Peace!

Longsuffering, this is long endurance, patience of offense. Stay the course, keep on keeping on.

Gentleness, we should always use soft manners or mildness in temper. A sweet disposition, meekness.

Goodness, this would be moral virtue, acts of kindness, biblical charity, mercy

Faith, Hebrews 11:1N ow faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

All through the New Testament, we see Christ condemning or commentating on faith, rather a lot or not. We are always encouraged to act on our faith. Yes, we can ask for more faith. Faith is our belief in Jesus Christ and His word.

Meekness, this one if kinda like gentleness as mentioned earlier. This is submission to the Divine will of God, without murmuring. This is the opposite of pride, or arrogance which God hates.

Temperance, this is the moderation of our natural appetites. It is the opposite of gluttony or drunkenness or other indulgences to excess. Other word to describe this word is calmness and patience and of course moderation.

There you go, 9 Spiritual fruits.
